Trezor.io/Start | Getting Started

The official guide to setting up and securing your Trezor hardware wallet.

Welcome to Trezor Start

To set up your new Trezor device, go to Trezor.io/Start — the official start page for all Trezor users. This is the trusted and secure place to initialize your hardware wallet and protect your digital assets.

Step 1: Connect Your Device

Unbox your Trezor Model One or Model T and connect it to your computer with the supplied USB cable. Once connected, your device will prompt you to visit Trezor.io/Start to begin the setup process.

You’ll be asked to install Trezor Bridge, a communication tool that allows your browser or Trezor Suite to recognize your device securely.

Step 2: Install Firmware

If your Trezor doesn’t already have firmware installed, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the latest version directly from the official site. Never install firmware from third-party sources, as this could compromise your security.

Step 3: Create or Recover a Wallet

Once your device is ready, you can either create a new wallet or recover an existing one using your recovery seed. Trezor will display a series of unique words — your recovery seed. Write it down carefully and keep it offline in a safe place. This seed is the only way to recover your crypto if your Trezor is lost or damaged.

Step 4: Secure Your Device

Set up a PIN to protect access to your wallet. You can also enable optional passphrase protection for extra security. Every time you confirm a transaction, you’ll verify it directly on your Trezor screen to prevent unauthorized access.

Step 5: Start Managing Your Crypto

After setup, open Trezor Suite to manage your digital assets. You can send, receive, and monitor cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and many more — all secured by your hardware wallet.
